Company overview

RingCentral is a cloud communications company that provides unified communications, collaboration, and contact center solutions. Vlad Shmunis founded it in 1999 in Belmont, California. RingCentral was one of the first companies to deliver business communications from the cloud, replacing legacy on-premises PBX phone systems with a modern, API-driven platform.

The flagship product is RingCentral MVP, which stands for Message, Video, Phone. It combines a cloud PBX phone system, team messaging, video conferencing, and fax in one application. Features include auto-attendants, call queues, IVR, call recording, analytics, plus team chat, file sharing, and task management.

RingCentral Video provides AI-powered meetings with live transcription, summaries, noise cancellation, and whiteboarding. RingCentral Webinar supports large virtual events.

RingCX is the native, AI-first contact center. It handles omnichannel routing for voice, email, chat, and SMS, intelligent virtual agents, agent assist, workforce engagement, and analytics. RingCentral built this from scratch. That's different from competitors who simply resell third-party contact center products.

RingCentral for Microsoft Teams is important for organizations that want enterprise-grade calling inside their Teams environment. It provides PSTN calling and advanced telephony without leaving the Teams interface.

The company sells to organizations of all sizes. The go-to-market includes direct sales, a large channel partner network, and strategic partnerships with AT&T, Vodafone, and other carriers who resell RingCentral under their own brands.

Annual revenue is roughly $2.3 billion with gross margins around 58%. Subscriptions drive the business. Profitability has improved significantly, with positive operating margins and strong free cash flow.

RingSense is the AI platform. It provides conversational intelligence, meeting insights, real-time coaching, and automated workflows across communications and contact center interactions. Features include call summaries, action item extraction, sentiment analysis, and sales coaching.

With about 7,000 employees and over 400,000 business customers, RingCentral is a foundational communications platform that helps organizations modernize how they talk to each other and their customers.
