Company Overview

DocuSign is a global leader in electronic signatures and agreement management. It was founded in 2003 in San Francisco. DocuSign essentially created the electronic signature category and grew it into a multi-billion-dollar market that changed how businesses execute agreements worldwide.

The core product, DocuSign eSignature, lets users send, sign, and manage documents electronically from any device. It handles complex workflows like sequential and parallel routing, conditional fields, bulk sending, and embedded signing within other applications. Integrations with over 400 apps, including Salesforce, Microsoft, Google, and SAP, embed electronic signatures directly into existing business processes.

The bigger strategic play is the Intelligent Agreement Management platform. IAM goes beyond signing to cover the entire agreement lifecycle. It includes agreement generation from templates, collaboration tools, AI-powered contract review and analysis, storage and search, and workflow automation triggered by agreement events. DocuSign estimates that roughly $2 trillion in economic activity is influenced by agreements, and IAM aims to capture more of that value.

DocuSign CLM provides enterprise-grade contract lifecycle management. It covers authoring, negotiating, redlining, approving, and managing complex contracts. Legal, procurement, and compliance teams at large organizations are the primary users.

Over one million customers use DocuSign across virtually every industry. Self-service online purchasing drives high-volume individual and SMB adoption. An enterprise sales force handles larger accounts. Partners include ISVs, system integrators, and resellers.

Annual revenue is roughly $2.9 billion with gross margins around 80%. Subscriptions provide high revenue visibility. Net revenue retention sits at about 105-108%. Operating margins have expanded significantly following a restructuring focused on efficiency.

DocuSign AI powers intelligent contract analysis, clause extraction, risk identification, and automated document generation. It analyzes agreement content to surface key terms, obligations, and potential issues, helping teams manage agreements more efficiently.

With about 7,000 employees and a brand that's become synonymous with electronic signatures, DocuSign is transforming from a signing tool into a comprehensive agreement intelligence platform.
