Summary

Intuit reported fiscal 2026 second-quarter total revenue of $4.65 billion, up 17.4% from the prior-year quarter. Year-to-date revenue reached $8.54 billion, up 17.8% from the same period a year earlier. Operating income for the quarter was $855 million, up 44.2%, and the operating margin expanded to 18.4%, up 3.4 percentage points. Net income rose to $693 million, up 47.1%, while diluted earnings per share increased to $2.48, up 48.5%. On a year-to-date basis, operating income was $1.39 billion, up 60.8%, and the operating margin was 16.3%, up 4.3 percentage points. Year-to-date net income was $1.14 billion, up 70.5%, and diluted earnings per share was $4.06, up 72.0%. Non-GAAP operating income grew 23% to $1.5 billion, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share grew 25% to $4.15.

The company's Global Business Solutions and Consumer segments both contributed to the quarter. Management attributed the growth to its AI-driven expert platform strategy and its Big Bets, including done-for-you experiences, money benefits, and mid-market solutions. Intuit launched AI agents for Intuit Enterprise Suite and continued to invest in its proprietary Generative AI Operating System. Intuit serves approximately 100 million customers worldwide. The company also reorganized its segments effective August 1, 2025, combining Consumer, Credit Karma, and ProTax into a single Consumer segment. This change recast prior-period expenses, with $149 million and $301 million reclassified from Consumer to other corporate expenses for the three and six months ended January 31, 2025. Seasonality remains a key factor, as TurboTax and ProTax revenue is heavily concentrated from November through April.

Cash generation was strong. Operating cash flow for the quarter was $1.57 billion, up 46.9% from the prior-year quarter. Year-to-date operating cash flow was $2.21 billion, up 54.2%. Capital expenditures were $46 million for the quarter, up 48.4%, and $84 million year to date, up 31.2%. Deferred revenue was $1.14 billion, up 11.3% from the prior-year quarter, reflecting the current portion only. The company ended the quarter with approximately $3.0 billion in cash and investments and $6.2 billion in debt. Working capital was $2.859 billion at January 31, 2026. It repurchased $961 million of stock, leaving $3.5 billion on its share repurchase authorization. The board approved a quarterly dividend of $1.20 per share, a 15 percent increase from the same period last year. Intuit also entered into a $5.8 billion unsecured short-term revolving credit facility on January 30, 2026, to fund a portion of its TurboTax early tax refund offering, and a new $2.2 billion unsecured revolving credit facility on January 9, 2026. As of February 26, 2026, $2.1 billion in commercial paper was outstanding.

Intuit reiterated its full-year fiscal 2026 guidance. The company expects revenue growth of approximately 12 to 13 percent, non-GAAP operating income of $8.611 billion to $8.688 billion, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $22.98 to $23.18. For the third quarter of fiscal 2026, Intuit guided to revenue growth of approximately 10 percent and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $12.45 to $12.51. The company also provided GAAP diluted earnings per share guidance for the third quarter, but the non-GAAP figure is the one highlighted here. Full-year segment guidance includes Global Business Solutions growth of 14 to 15 percent and Consumer growth of 8 to 9 percent. Within Consumer, TurboTax growth is expected at 8 percent, Credit Karma growth at 10 to 13 percent, and ProTax growth at 2 to 3 percent. Mailchimp is expected to return to double-digit growth some time beyond fiscal 2026. Management said the momentum gives it high confidence in delivering double-digit revenue growth and expanding margin this year. The effective tax rate for the quarter was approximately 20%, and excluding discrete items it was approximately 24%. Risks include intense competition in AI and financial technology, regulatory scrutiny, cybersecurity incidents, fraudulent activities by third parties, reliance on third-party relationships, talent retention, and the seasonal concentration of tax revenue. Macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical conditions could also affect results.

Risks

HIGHAI Competition

Intuit faces intense competition, and competitors may use AI to reduce demand for its products or services, undercut prices, or beat it to market. MD&A states AI is transforming financial technology and creating a more dynamic, highly competitive environment.

HIGHGovernment Competition

Federal and state taxing authorities could become publicly funded direct competitors. The IRS free direct filing system was suspended, but proponents continue to advocate for it, and the legacy IRS Free File Program could expand with increased awareness and government support.

HIGHRegulatory

The EU AI Act went into force in February 2025, and states including Utah, Colorado, and California are applying or considering AI legal frameworks. Compliance may add significant costs and require changes to business practices.

HIGHCybersecurity Incident

Intuit hosts large amounts of sensitive tax, financial, and identity data, and cyberattacks are increasingly automated and AI-enabled. A single-identity ecosystem across Intuit products could give a security incident access to increased customer data, and the FTC 2014 order imposes 20-year security program requirements on Credit Karma member data.

HIGHFraud

Fraudulent activities are increasing and becoming more sophisticated, including through AI. If Intuit cannot combat fraud, government authorities could refuse to allow it to process tax returns electronically, causing significant adverse impact.

MEDIUMSales Cycle

TurboTax and ProTax revenue is heavily concentrated from November through April, causing significant quarterly fluctuations. MD&A says the first six months of fiscal 2026 are not indicative of full-year trends and substantially complete 2025 tax season results will not be available until Q3 fiscal 2026.

MEDIUMTalent Retention

Competition for skilled employees in SaaS, fintech, data science, AI, and cybersecurity is intense, especially in California and India. Equity awards may become less effective if Intuit's stock price decreases or increases slower than talent competitors.

MEDIUMThird-Party Dependence

Growth depends on third-party partners including financial institutions, credit reporting bureaus, cloud providers, and app stores. Credit Karma partner willingness can be affected by adverse economic conditions, capacity limits, competing products, and regulatory complexity.

MEDIUMMacroeconomic

Adverse macroeconomic conditions, including inflation, rising interest rates, unemployment, and reduced consumer spending, could delay purchases and reduce Credit Karma engagement, payments volume, and tax returns filed. The majority of revenue is U.S.-derived, increasing sensitivity to U.S. conditions.

MEDIUMCredit Risk

Intuit provides capital to small and mid-market businesses and consumers by purchasing loans from third-party lenders. Credit decisioning models may be flawed, borrowers may be unable to repay, and funding arrangements with financial institutions could be interrupted.

MEDIUMDebt

At January 31, 2026, Intuit had $749 million short-term debt and $5.4 billion long-term debt, and as of February 26, 2026, $2.1 billion in commercial paper outstanding. Credit facilities impose covenants, including a total gross debt to EBITDA ratio not greater than 4.00 to 1.00.

MEDIUMTax Law

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act reinstated immediate expensing of domestic R&D effective fiscal 2026, and Notice 2026-7 on Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax may further reduce deferred tax assets and income taxes payable. Changes in tax rates or examinations could affect future results.

MEDIUMProduct Accuracy

Tax products have rigid development timetables and must incorporate late tax law changes; errors or launch delays could cause customer loss, negative publicity, and accuracy guarantee payments. AI incorporated into offerings may not function as designed or have unintended consequences.

MEDIUMPrivacy

Evolving privacy laws, including GDPR and growing U.S. state laws, impose significant limitations and compliance costs. The EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework faces legal challenges, creating uncertainty for data transfers.

MEDIUMIntellectual Property

Intuit relies on third-party and open source software, and AI use creates uncertainty about validity and enforceability of IP rights. Infringement claims could require damages, royalties, or product changes.

MEDIUMReputation

Adverse publicity or perceived social harm from AI use could tarnish Intuit's brands and reduce demand. A security incident exposing customer data could cause material reputational harm.

LOWAcquisition

Acquisitions and divestitures involve integration, retention, and regulatory approval risks, and equity issuance could dilute EPS. Evolving regulatory expectations may make approvals more challenging.

LOWInternational

International operations face privacy, data localization, labor, sanctions, tariffs, and geopolitical risks, including conflicts in the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine war. International revenue was approximately 8% and 9% of consolidated net revenue for the three and six months ended January 31, 2026.

LOWClimate

Climate-related events such as wildfires, heat waves, and power shutoffs could disrupt offices and third-party suppliers, and regulatory scrutiny may increase compliance costs.

LOWStock Volatility

Stock price may be volatile due to analyst estimates, credit ratings, speculation, and general economic conditions, and a significant drop could expose Intuit to securities class action lawsuits.
